CRUELTY TO ANIMALS
All of the states have laws governing cruelty to animals. In some states, a person guilty of cruelty to animals is subject to criminal action. Beating, starving, torturing, and failing to provide shelter are examples of cruelty to animals. You may recall that in the section on grooming, we mentioned that some states regard ear cropping and tail docking as cruelty to animals. Dog fighting as a sport is also considered a form of cruelty to animals.
