OWNERSHIP
Occasionally, the ownership of a dog is contested. Since dogs are property, the rightful owner can reclaim his dog if lost or stolen. Such reclamation would be subject to stray or license laws, in addition to the costs of feeding and sheltering the animal. When you sell a dog and sign the bill of sale, you relinquish all rights in the dog. The purchaser becomes the owner.
