PROSTATITIS
So far as it is known, only three animals suffer from prostatitis: the dog, the lion and man. Prostatitis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the prostate gland. It is common in old male dogs.
The symptoms include frequent and painful urination, difficult bowel movements (resulting from an enlarged prostate pressing on the rectum), restlessness, reluctance to sit down, and a rise in the temperature. Some cases of prostatitis are helped by chemotherapy, others require surgery. Consult your veterinarian for the best treatment for your dog.
